Auckland Transport’s Beginner Bike and Maintenance Sessions for adults are back with sessions in Henderson, Central Auckland, Mangere and Takapuna.

This session will be happening at YMCA Stadium, 149 Greys Avenue, Auckland Central from 5.30 pm – 8 pm.

At the session there will be separate ‘learn to ride’ instruction for anyone who has never ridden a bike. If you can ride but lack confidence, our instructors will help with practicing skills such as changing gears, braking, bike control, signalling and more.

A mechanic will also be there to answer any maintenance questions including how to remove a wheel, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike. Arrive at 10 am for the initial introductions and briefing then our instructors can help you with whatever you need.

The session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons, bike maintenance, or a little of both. Unable to stay for the full time no sweat, stay for as little or as long as you like. It is also a good opportunity to come along and ask one of our regional coordinators for more info on riding locally.

At 12pm we will be heading off on a guided ride along twin streams shared path with those who feel confident enough to leave the grounds on a bike, it will be a great way to put your newfound skills into real world experience.

So, if you are keen to master the art of riding a bike or want to learn to fix a flat… drop in.

Bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun, so it is best to be there early. No need to book for these sessions.

Biketober Auckland is presented by Bike Auckland, the non-profit organisation working for a better city for people on bikes.
