Auckland Transport’s Beginner Bike and Maintenance Sessions for adults are back with events in Henderson, Central Auckland, Mangere and Takapuna.

Central Auckland sessions will be happening at the YMCA Stadium in Central Auckland from 5.30pm – 7.30pm.

These are designed for ‘all skill levels’ – from adult beginners to those doing their own maintenance and repairs.

If you can ride but lack confidence, our instructors will help with changing gears, braking, bike control, signalling and more.

Our bike mechanic can answer maintenance questions including how to service a wheel, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike.

Please arrive at 5.30pm for the initial introductions and briefing then our instructors can help you with whatever you need. The session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons, bike maintenance, or a little of both.

Unable to stay for the full time? No sweat, stay for as little or as long as you like. It is also a good opportunity to come along and ask one of our regional coordinators for more info on riding locally.

At 7.30pm we will be heading off on a guided group ride along Te Ara I Whiti, Lightpath, (“the Pink path”), a great way to put your newfound skills into real world experience.

Bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun, so it is best to be there early.

No need to book for these sessions.

Biketober Auckland is presented by Bike Auckland, the non-profit organisation working for a better city for people on bikes.
